The project “Molecular thermodecomposition of gaseous effluents” is funded by OP CRO FES Liguria Region 2007-2013 (Axis IV “Human Capital” ob.specific I / 6) and conducted in collaboration with the project “Experimental assessment of the thermodynamic and kinetic aspects in the processes of thermodecomposition at high temperatures” and “Modeling of molecular thermal decomposition processes”, funded by POR CRO FESR LIGURIA 2007-2013 (Axis I – Innovation and Competitiveness Action 1.2.2 Industrial Research and Experimental Development). It is aimed at identifying an innovative process with very low environmental impact for obtaining a higher purity and quality coking gas.

The activities were carried out in close collaboration with the partners of the two projects, ITALIANA COKE Srl, Ireos Laboratori Srl, EAT, IREN ACQUA GAS spa, assisted by P & T srl – Port and Territory, Ticass Scrl, Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry (DCCI) ) and Department of Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering (DICCA). The activities include the construction of a pilot unit at the DCCI laboratories and at the industrial plants, capable of simulating and studying the process of industrial research. The unit consists of an oven capable of operating at a temperature between 1000 and 1700 ° C. The outgoing gas was chemically analyzed with the support of Ireos Laboratori Srl. The main aspects examined were related to the experimental reactor study aimed at quantifying and evaluating the conversions and selectivity towards the desired products as the operating conditions change. The elaboration of the set of data produced, made by all partners and other consultants, should allow project proponents to develop a model of the process and to carry out an industrial feasibility study.
